On January 11th, the 13th A' Design Award ceremony was held in Shenzhen. There were a total of 7,055 design entries from 73 countries and regions competing for the prestigious international space design award, the A' Design Award. Foreign designers won 12 major awards, while Chinese designers won 8 major awards. CAS Member QI Kang received the A' Design Award for "Lifetime Achievement".
CAS Member QI Kang has been engaged in scientific research, design, and teaching in the fields of architecture and urban planning for a long time. In 2000, he received the inaugural "Liang Sicheng Architecture Award" in China. Not only has he achieved remarkable architectural accomplishments, but he has also had a significant impact on the architecture industry itself. His disciples are spread throughout the field, and the research institute he leads has trained two CAS members, two members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), one Pritzker Prize laureate, as well as numerous doctoral and master's students. His theories on the "social composition of architectural creation," "architectural consciousness," "cultural features of cities," and "urban morphology" have nurtured a generation of young architecture students.
The International Design Excellence Award (IDEA-TOPS), also known as A' Design Award, is one of the most internationally influential design awards today. It was born in Shenzhen, rooted in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and has been successfully held for 12 editions. With its professionalism, internationalism, and authority, it has gained wide recognition and admiration from the design industry and society. On the global design stage, the A' Design Award, leveraging the vast Chinese market, stands shoulder to shoulder with other prestigious awards such as Germany's Red Dot, IF Design Award, and the American IDEA, making it one of the four major international design awards.
