The 14th General Assembly

The 14th General Assembly of CAS Members and the 9th General Assembly of CAE Members open on the morning of 23 June in Beijing. More than 1,100 CAS and CAE members attend the opening ceremony held in the Great Hall of the People.
Chinese President and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee HU Jintao was present at the ceremony and delivered an important speech.
State leaders also attending the opening were WU Bangguo, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, Premier WEN Jiabao, JIA Qinglin, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, LI Changchun, member of the Political Bureau Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Vice Premier LI Keqiang and ZHOU Yongkang, also member of the Political Bureau Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee
