Nomination for 2017 CAS Members Election Started

CAS kicks off its biennial recruitment of new members and foreign members on Jan 1, 2017. According to the decision of the Presidium of the Academic Divisions, the 60 membership quota will be allocated to six academic divisions, further with a maximum of one additional membership for each of the six emerging and cross-disciplinary disciplines. 

Candidates for Membership will be nominated by CAS members under 80 years old and the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST). They will be reviewed and elected by members under the auspices of the Standing Committees of the Academic Divisions. Each candidature will undergo a rigorous multi-stage annual selection process which culminates in a ballot of the whole members. Candidates for CAS foreign members will be nominated by CAS members under 80 years old. Each nominee will be reviewed and elected by all these members. Both elected lists will be released in December this year. 

The membership of CAS is the highest academic accolade in the field of science and technology conferred by the State, which is a lifelong title. Currently, there are 753 CAS members and 80 CAS foreign members.
