National Assessment Report on Climate Change Released

A Press Conference on the National Assessment Report on Climate Change was held in Beijing on December 26, 2006 under the auspices of MOST, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and China Meteorological Administration (CMA). Vice Minister LI Xueyong of MOST, Vice President LI Jiayang of CAS and Administrator QIN Dahe of CMA briefed the press about the Report and took questions from the floor.

 

The reportconsists of three parts: the past and future of climate change, the impact and adaptation of climate change and the socio-economic impact from the slowdown of climate change. The report summarized China’s research findings, assessed the observation record and impact of climate change in China in the past century, predicted the trend in the 21st century, as well as analyzed and evaluated the possible influence of climate change and related international conventions in China’s ecology, environment, and socio-economic development. China also stated her position, principle, opinion and policies about the issue in thereport.
